A Story of Renovation
Nestled in the heart of Zittau, this historic building—originally constructed in 1835—once stood as a proud symbol of the city’s architectural elegance. Over the decades, however, time took its toll. The once-grand façade weathered under years of neglect, and its interiors became a shadow of their former glory. But today, thanks to a meticulous restoration project, this hidden gem has been given a new lease on life.
The Building
Zittau, with around 25,000 inhabitants, is located south of Görlitz on the B 96, 99 and 178 and has two universities with around 4,000 students. Gerhard Richter began his long career as an artist in Zittau. Completely intact, lavishly renovated townscape with magnificent patrician houses from the Baroque period. International atmosphere in the border triangle. The historic town center is surrounded by extensive, renovated villa districts from the
Wilhelminian era. To the south of the city lies the Zittau Mountains, up to 793 m high, with a wide range of recreational opportunities, from the “leisure oasis” on Lake Olbersdorf to the Lausche winter sports center (including ski lifts).
